Nick is from New Zealand and Charmayne is from Australia. We owe the fact that we met to a series of happy coincidences and fortuitous decisions.
In 2007 Nick decided to move to Oz to accept a job offer. He booked his ticket and started to pack up all his belongings. But he had a change of heart and decided to go to London instead as it didn't cost that much more.
Charms meanwhile had moved to London in 2004. In 2005, she met someone in a pub who ended up offering her a job at Rightmove. It wasn't in her field but she was in dire need of a regular pay cheque.
Nearly 2 years later, Nick arrived in London. A few job offers came his way, and he decided to accept one from a small-ish company called Rightmove.
Despite working in the same office for several months, we never really spoke to each other. One day, a few of our co-workers organised some post-work drinks. Charms decided not to go, as she had been invited to a dinner party. But after a very long and frustrating meeting that finished at 6:30pm, she needed a drink, so she stopped by the pub where her co-workers were. The only empty seat happened to be next to Nick. They got to talking, and Charms never did make it to the dinner party.
Nick proposed in Sydney on 31st December 2008 on a beautifully decorated balcony overlooking the Harbour. Charmayne
happily accepted.
